A couple weekends ago my friend Sonja came over for a craft day! we decided to try out some simple weaving. I used a styrofoam tray that I had saved to set up the mini loom. I cut small notches in the top and bottom to stretch our vertical yarn (warp) through. we rigged up a paintbrush to use as a shuttle. I had a comb (as a loom beater) that worked perfectly to secure the horizontal yarn (weft) into place.

I was inspired to try some simple diy weaving by this cardboard loom. I prefer the styrofoam because it holds it shape better and after I took the piece off I was able to flip over my tray to use for blocking the piece with pins.

I will def be trying my hand at some different patterns in the future. I’ve think I’ve got enough pinspiration to go from :)

A few months back we decided to give our simple coffee table a make-over. I had seen a lot of herringbone inspiration so we took a stab at it.

It was a project we were able to do in one afternoon and were definitely pleased with the way in turned out.

Before starting you’ll need to prep your surface (depending on what you’ve got going on.) We sanded ours down so that the paint would just peel off.

Step 1: Measure and cut tape. I made myself a little cardboard template that definitely helped. so I marked the lines lightly with a pencil and placed the pieces of tape as the hubs cut them.

Step 2: …Keep measuring and taping for what seemed like forever. Tea and snacks helped.

Step 3: Paint the table. We used a black satin acrylic enamel paint that we had lying around. I think we ended up doing 2 coats of paint.

Step 4: Once the paint was mostly dry peel the tape off! We didnt want to wait too long for fear that the paint would then peel off with the tape.

Step 5: Paint a clear top coat on it.

Step 6: Admire your lovely “new” coffee table!
